This place is so fun... if you can find it. I had a couple of their gin cocktails and they were really good. The band was the best. It was standing room only by 10pm, but people were constantly coming & going so you could eventually grab a seat.

Awesome below-ground speakeasy with great drinks and a truly great and intimate atmosphere. Live music every night at 9pm! If you are visiting San Diego, add this to your list of must-experience.

Intimate club downtown Gaslamp with live music. Great blues songwriter and performer Nathan James plays there every couple of months. Swing dancers were tearing it up last time I was there!

Drinks from the lead bartender were amazing. Perfectly balanced. Didn't give the most "Speakeasy" feeling SD but good music and great cocktails with out a reservation.

Drinks are excellent but be prepared to pay 20 per drink. However, it is worth it for the cool atmosphere and live music.

This is the coolest place ive ever been to! The bartenders CARE about what they hand you to drink. It’s a little warm but once you find a seat and enjoy your delicious drink, you’ll be on cloud 9. Thank you to the bartenders and staff. I never thought I could love an alcoholic drink so much!! SHOUTOUT TO CHRIS - my favorite bartender here!!! Really putting care into every drink he makes :)

The live band was fantastic. We had a great time dancing the night away. The tight quarters made it feel cozy and inclusive. Drinks were good, but on the expensive side. Bartenders didn't have much personality. And the bar itself is kinda shoved into a corner. The cocktail record menus felt kitschy and hard to read (have to keep rotating it).

(they don’t serve food so no stars) so if your in the know then you know. The man was invited to play last night and we didn’t know what to expect. First off reading is fundamental and if you ever plan on going please read their website closely or you won’t find it, but if you happen to figure it out you will not be disappointed. The drinks are a bit pricey but oh so worth it. If you’re not sure what you want they have the skillz to make it. I wasn’t sure what I wanted just told him the type of liquor and specs and they were delicious. This is also a place to go after dinner to enjoy live music, but if you want to get your pregame on you will also enjoy it. Had a great time and we will most def return. 😘

Wonderful service, the doorman and the lead bartender Leif were absolutely wonderful and took care of us. We visited on a saturday where dress code is encouraged, but not enforced. Great music from live bands, very quick and jazzy by the end of the night. 10/10 would go again, just wish more people dressed up on the encouraged days, but thats no fault of the establishment.

Love that they keep true to the prohibition area. All spirits and drinks are only what you could get during the times. With different musicians rotating through...this spot will become a regular on my night out stops!!

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the exceptional talents of Nicollee at Prohibition and I couldn't be more impressed. Her ability to craft cocktails is nothing short of magical. Each drink she creates is a masterpiece, showcasing her expertise and passion for mixology. With a keen understanding of flavors, she effortlessly tailors each cocktail to suit individual tastes, creating a bespoke and unforgettable drinking experience. It's not just a drink; it's a journey through flavors expertly curated by a true artist behind the bar. Cheers to an unforgettable Friday evening of exquisite drinks and life music!

After taking 10 minutes to find the door (yes, this is stupid because I’m from NY and should know better), I finally was led downstairs in which we were offered menus. I couldn’t really read them well as I just had an eye surgery and Nicole was the sweetest in helping me navigate the menu offerings even though she was a bit busy. Would definitely come back again - and next time hopefully I can see better!

Ordered a Purple Rain. This was a sweet drink accented by ube (japanese sweet potato) which gave it an earthy profile and was a beautiful color even in the red light of the environment. The ambiance of the location was very soothing, relaxed, and upbeat. The band that was performing were pleasant and relaxing to sway to the rhythm.

What a great place to listen to live music and enjoy perfectly crafted cocktails. Arrive by 8 pm if you want to find seating. Afterwards is all standing. Stay late and enjoy the music and conversation.

Prohibition Speakeasy truly impressed me with its exceptional drink selection and captivating live music. The cozy ambience added a touch of charm to the whole experience. Whether you're sipping on a well-crafted cocktail or being serenaded by the live tunes, this place effortlessly transports you to a bygone era of elegance and entertainment. A definite must-visit for those seeking a unique and memorable night out.

There is always a good time to be had at the SD jem! Service and finely crafted drinks (may I recommend a Black Manhattan w Piggy Back) are great! Music is always inspiring, and people moving. If you've not been here you're missing out!

Great atmosphere and good cocktails. The old fashioned was nothing special but the other 2 cocktails we had were pretty great. The live music was awesome and overall feel of the place would make me come back. My Wife and I had a great time while we were there. It’s the right size to have enough of a crowd but not be overwhelming. Dimly lit, live music and great drinks. What’s not to love?

Drinks are good and well mixed. Atmosphere perfectly captures the prohibition vibe. Seating is pretty low, and it's a small bar, so be prepared to stand. Live music is great and fits the vibe. If you like the speakeasy vibe, this is where it's at.

This is a fantastic place with amazing character, and the highlight over evening was a small trio of a band with a wonderful lead singer who gave us some great jazz and blues. This is a very small venue, very cozy, and a place I would love to come back anytime to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere while having one of their great drinks. Note: you can easily miss it if you are not paying attention, it's a very small door that leads you down into a basement like experience.

Great speakeasy style bar, drinks were surprisingly well priced for the neighborhood and the bartenders seem to have pride in there work, one could taste the pride in their drinks. Live music was good and was only a smidge too loud but other than the sonic disturbance this is one of the best places to go in the gaslamp area.

A modified hurricane. It was good with pineapple juice, but it was very odd that a bar didn't have any OJ on hand as so many drinks have that in it. Champagne, they passed out for toasting at midnight New Year's Eve.

Entrance is a fake law office, and a bouncer lets you in one group at a time. The entire bar is small and long. There was live music at the bottom. Had a really great time as it really felt like a prohibition style bar. My friend started dancing with the live music and other people started to join, so that part was really fun. Would also note that mixed drinks were relatively pricey but everyone was super nice. The line to get drinks can take a while too.

Cute cute cute little space underground. Went on a live music night and the cover was $10. The decor was fun and the dim red lighting was a fun touch. Excited to see what it’s like on a regular night out.

We loved it! The vibe was great & the drinks were delicious. It was a full house within less that an hour of opening. Wish I was closer so I can go more often. In no way to hinder the review, expect a cover charge and no service on your phone.

This place was awesome. Met some cool people and they had awesome drinks 🍸! Did witness a manager inforce a no baseball hat policy on someone who has been there for around two hours 🤔 Rules are rules. Still gotta give it 5 🌟

Savior for us on thanksgiving night. Amazing live music - though the music was a tad too loud. But great vibe to sit and drink and listen to music. It has a old school feel to it being modeled like a speakeasy. The drinks were good too. They had special thanksgiving drinks menu that day.

Went here for my 29th birthday and had a blast. Lovely jazz music played as I sipped some truly delicious cocktails. Definitely hit up this place if you're in the area. The one confusing part was where it was. It's the door to the right of the Irish pub, and there's no catch phrase necessary to get in :)
